The Tree Of Life

Each and every one of us encounters different people in our lives. Right from kindergarten till our deathbed, we experience numerous relationships out of which some are momentary and some last forever. What if we took this framework and associate these with the qualities of a tree? Let us take a look at trees from a philosophical perspective.

Some people are meant to come in our lives for a lifetime, some for only a season and it is important for us to know the difference between the two. Sometime we end up in confusion when we mix those seasonal people with lifetime expectations.

Let us look at this from the perspective of a tree. Some people are like leaves on a tree. With the wind, the leaves sway from one direction to the other showing instability. When the seasons change they wither and die, they’re gone.

All branches of the tree aren’t the same, just like the leaves

If we related this to our own lives we will realize that most people behave the same way, they’re not there to do anything but take from the tree and give us shade every now and then. That’s all they can do. But don’t get mad at people like that, that’s who they are. That is all they were put on this Earth to be. A leaf.

Some people are like branches of a tree. One has to be careful with those branches too, because they can be deceptive. They’ll make us think they’re a good friend and they’re strong but the minute we step on them, they’ll break and leave us high and dry.

This does not pertain to all the branches as there will be a few which can be trusted with all the weight of your problems. Not only will such people offer all their support but also help us in every possible way they can.

Roots are the most vital organs of a tree without which the tree would cease to exist. Similarly, we too have people in our lives who hold a special place. Take our parents for example, they will be on your side no matter what. Along with them if we also get friends, maybe 2 or 3 that are like the roots at the bottom of that tree, we can consider ourselves blessed.

If those roots weren’t there, that tree would not live.

Those are the kind of people that aren’t going anywhere. They aren’t worried about being seen, nobody has to know that they know you, they don’t have to know what they’re doing for you but if those roots weren’t there, that tree couldn’t live.

There are many trees which adapt to the environment, different seasonal fluctuations and survive in some of the harshest places in the world, while others fade away even in the lightest of winds.

Same things applies to our lives as well. Everyone faces challenges in their lives. Rich or poor it doesn’t matter. Some feel defeated after experiencing slightest of problems while there are those who keep fighting and emerge victorious by overcoming their problems. That is how we should lead our lives as well. We need to adapt to face these challenges bravely with our mental strength and never be bogged down by them.

Some are defeated by the smallest of problems, others fight and overcome all the problems life throws at them.

In sync to this topic here is a video which showcases what the future beholds for us if we are there for one another. A world which we can create in which there are no boundaries of religion, cast, creed or language. Using the latest of technologies to bring together people and gel within a single tree of humanity.

Carrying on with one’s life without having any expectations from others would be a stepping stone towards having less disappointments in life. Just follow the path of performing good deeds and you have done your bit. Giving happiness to others will give you a good dose of happiness, the kind of happiness which may not add years to your life but will surely add life to your years.

A tree could have a hundred million branches but it only takes a few roots down at the bottom to make sure that the tree gets everything it needs. When you get some roots, hold on to them but the rest of it… just let it go. Let them go.
